Hawai’i Craftsmen’s 42nd Annual Exhibition

Woman in the Wind Natural Wooden ArtI’m a sucker for things that are naturally fantastic.  I saw this wood piece at an art show at Honolulu Academy Art Center At Linekona back in 2007 and have marvelled at it ever since.

This sensual “woman” was made by the artist from one piece of wood. Unfortuantely for me, I no long have the artists name. I will try to find it and include it here later! What a genius. I don’t remember the price either, or if it was even for sale. I didn’t notice the blue ribbon at first, until I was done gawking in disbelief.

I get way too worked up about these things but I do love them because I’m crazy like that!  Everyone should give it a try at least once!  The Hawai’i Craftsmen are having their 42nd Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition right around the corner and I’m excited to go see what they will have for us to see.  Don’t worry, the Exhibition runs from October 10th to the 31st so you have lots of time.  Just don’t put it too far on the back burner!

That is an amazing piece of art. Leaves us speechless. Great idea to share the Honolulu Art Exhibition with our Hawaii visitors. Something else to do in Honolulu besides hanging out on Waikiki’s beaches!

Hey Pua, good to see you. I agree. There is so much more to Honolulu than just Waikiki, trust me!

I didn’t mention the flyer they had for this upcoming event. It had a sketch of a really cool piece of art! I can only hope they actually have it at this exhibition. It’s called “The Little Mermaid Grows Up” and it took me a few seconds to catch on. I thought it was so cool and I hope it’s there! I don’t think they allow photographs at these events so I might have to just talk about it (or take a picture of the flyer) but what a very unique and fun idea!

Wood is one of God’s original artistic mediums, thanks for sharing a beautiful piece of work.

Isn’t it amazing, Keahi? You’re right, the Lord gave us some beautiful material to work with. I love the look of wood grain and I would rather see good, old-fashioned wood than paint and plaster for sure!

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful piece of sculpture. It is such a warm flawless design that it really leaves an onlooker wanting to pick it up, feel it and possibly own it!

I remember thinking the same thing, Polly. I wanted to take it home. If I remember correctly, it was well out of my price range. But, I agree, it’s quite a beauty! Thanks for stopping by and for confirming that. 🙂
